Hospitals that take care of women can be seen from afar

Bollini Rosa are a tool to acknowledge Italian hospitals, both public and private, that offer a range of services dedicated to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of pathologies that affect mostly women.

Given every two years, they represent the application of gender-specific medicine in hospitals, as they are ascribed to facilities that are particularly attentive to catering their diagnostic and therapeutic processes to the specific biological needs of their patients.
Those hospitals that receive this recognition (a hospital can receive from 1 to 3 Bollini Rosa) become part of a national network of healthcare facilities committed to adopting a gender approach when defining and planning their health and support services.

Hospitals can register their interest through a questionnaire, which consists of about 500 questions, divided between 18 medical specialities. The completed questionnaires are then evaluated by our Advisory Board

This project is sponsored by 23 Scientific Societies, which have the following goals:
•    To promote a gender-specific approach in the planning of healthcare services within hospitals
•    To motivate hospitals to offer personalised medical and support services and to encourage the recognition of women’s specific needs.
•    To improve the quality and accessibility of hospital services
•    To foster a more humane approach to treatments
•    To encourage synergy between hospitals in order to share good clinical practices
•    To guide women when choosing the most appropriate hospital for their medical needs

There are 335 hospitals that have received this recognition between 2020-2021, and they are located in every Italian region

Each year, during events dedicated to pathologies with a high epidemiological impact, Onda organises with these hospitals initiatives dedicated to raising awareness and informing women. During these events, (H)-OpenDay, (H)-OpenWeek and (H)-OpenWeekend, women are offered free health services with the aim of drawing them closer to ever more accurate diagnosis and treatments. Among these are medical visits, blood and medical tests, consultations, talks and informative pamphlets.

In addition, our competition Best Practice aims at identifying and reward the best clinical practices for specific pathologies. This initiative allows the promotion, accessment and sharing of diagnostic and therapeutic processes and of the support services provided by hospitals. This will facilitate improvements in the quality of treatments, while also keeping women informed.
